Children's Church
Teachers: Lillian, Jenny and Anne
At OCC we are committed to the building up of our young children. We feel that they are just as much a part of God's kingdom as anyone, so we take seriously our responsibility to guide and direct them in the word of God. It is by our example that our children will both learn and grow in church and in life.
Our Children's Church is run in the morning service whilst the sermon is being given. There are three age groups which are:
- a creche group for toddlers
- a group for 4 to 8 year olds
- group for the 9 to 13 year olds.
All of the groups cover material that is relevant to their age, using a range of media types.
At various times during the year, the groups within Children's Church participate in the service. This can involve poetry, dance, drama and song.
Quote from Lilian Baxter - Children's Church Superintendent.
“There are things in life that we call precious, things in life that we pay much for, things in life that we go a long way to see. At OCC we truly believe that children are precious… we have an awesome responsibility given to us by God to be examples just as Christ was to us… in fact Jesus said ‘let the little children come unto me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these’ (Matt 19:14)… what a fantastic statement… we do well to act upon the spoken word of our Lord. Question: what do you find precious?
