Keeping You Safe – The Legal Bits
Although you, as carers, have the main responsiblility for your child(ren) we’re still covered by the church’s Child Protection Policy and, as such, those helpers who have direct contact with the children have / will have the appropriate checks undertaken. If you want to read the policy, you’ll see a copy of it on the board in the main hall where we meet.
We also need to comply with the Data Protection Act, which relates to our records, etc. It also covers such things as taking photos / videos of the group – whether it’s us, as leaders, the church, or you as carers. We must now get permission before going ahead, so we may approach you occasionally, for specific occasions. If you, as a carer, want to take photos or take a video recording, please see Simone and we’ll help to sort this out.
Health and Safety is also important, so there are certain things we need to do, or we need you to do, to make sure it’s a safe place for us all.
- Please sign in on the sheet by the entrance of the main hall and sign out if you leave early. This is for fire safety, so we know who is in the building in case we need to evacuate. Although we’ll check, it can be easy to miss someone if they’re outside, or in the toilet!
- We need to record any bumps or accidents in the Accident Book, so please let us know if anything happens that we should know about.
- Please keep an eye on your child(ren) and make sure they don’t go out of the Main Hall unaccompanied. They are your responsibility, but if we see a child leaving the hall alone, we’ll stop them, if necessary, so they don’t get into things they shouldn’t! For their safety, they shouldn’t be in the activity room, or outdoor play area unsupervised.
- If you see a door open leading out of the Main Hall, we’d appreciate it if you would close it, to prevent anyone escaping and keep it safe for everyone.
We want to provide a happy, safe place for everyone to enjoy their time here at Tumbletots, so please let us know if there’s anything good we’re doing, or if there’s anything we could do better. From time to time we do ask for formal feedback, but we hope you’ll let us know what you think as we go along, anyway.
