Tumbletots
Welcome to Tumbletots, from all of us in the team.
Tumbletots is a toddler group run by volunteers who have links with Outreach Christian Centre, where we meet. The group is run for under 5’s and their carers, as part of the church’s activities within the community around Darton.
As leaders and helpers, we come under the authority of OCC’s Pastor Jeff Baxter.
Our Aim
Our aim is to provide a safe, stimulating and friendly place where children and their carers can meet, play and make friends. We welcome everyone, whatever their age, relationship to the child, culture, religious background, colour, gender or disability.
Meeting Times and Fees:
We meet on Thursdays, during school term times, from 9.00am to 11.15am.
Fees:
The fees are fixed and cover any refreshments you or your child(ren) have during the session – regardless of how many times you come back for more! Occasional visitors are also covered when they come.
Children under 1 Year – free
Children over 1 year – £1.
Fees are normally paid at the hatch, at coffee time. We also keep a register, so we can tally numbers and amounts paid, so your child(ren)’s name(s) will be checked off at the same time.
Facilities and Activities
We have three separate areas to play – they all provide different surroundings and have toys which are suited to that particular area.
Main Play Area
Somewhere for carers to meet and chat and for the children to play with each other or their carer. There is a range of toys and equipment to suit various ages. We know it’s impossible to keep everything tidy when children are playing – that’s part of the fun! However, we would appreciate it if you’d encourage your child(ren) to keep things that belong together in the same area, so that others who may want to play with something after them can enjoy themselves too. Also, please encourage the older ones to be aware of those around them, particularly any young babies – they’ve sometimes been in danger of being trampled by others enjoying themselves!!
Activity Room
A small room off the main hall, where you can get away from the noise and enjoy a range of quieter activities, such as play dough, painting, drawing, puzzles and books. As it’s a small room, there isn’t enough room to bring in toys from the main hall.
We provide a range of activities to suit the age range of the children who attend Tumbletots. Children develop at different rates, so some may be ready to do some activities, but not others – we ask you to judge your own child(ren)’s abilities.
Outdoor Play Area
An enclosed area at the side of the church, with safety surfacing. When the weather’s good we put bigger toys, such as ride-on vehicles, slides, etc. outside for even more fun!
Disabled Toilet
Situated near the Activity Room, off the Main Hall.
Baby Changing Facilities
Available in the disabled toilet. There are potties situated in the main toilets.
Refreshments
We serve tea, coffee, juice and biscuits during the session. Once you have paid, you and your child(ren) can have as many drinks and biscuits as you want – just ask – there’s no extra charge! Toast costs 10p per slice.
Christian Bookshop
Situated off the Main Hall, if you want to look around – you don’t have to buy anything!
